Code enforcement seeks to enforce exterior maintenance and ordinance requirements throughout the city. This includes enforcing rules pertaining to property maintenance, setback requirements, commercial signage, and various nuisance standards. The department employs one code enforcement official.
This division works closely with the city’s Planning and Economic Development divisions to help attract and retain businesses.
While code enforcement primarily maintains quality of life standards, they also play an important role in the early identification of unsafe entry points, exterior hazards, public health hazard mitigation, and ensuring compliance with humane pet standards. To submit a code violation either call 763-635-2633 or fill out an online report of a Possible Code Violation. You have the option to remain anonymous and all information provided is confidential.
